In the year 1977, ten years after the establishment of his Krav-Maga
Institute in the city of Tel-Aviv, Imi handed over the Institute's keys to his
black belt student, Yaron Lichtenstein. Soon after, a dramatic change
took place: a larger exposure and recognition of the Krav-Maga in Israel and the
world.
Yaron, who a decade before became one of Imi's first three students who began
their way in an unknown profession to the public: until that time the Krav-Maga
was reserved to the security's force of Israel alone. A few years later, when
the number of students grew and the Institute became to small to accommodate
them all, Yaron returned to his home city of Rehovot and founded Bokken, a
school of Krav-Maga, a first of his kind in the world, with nearly 3000 students
and more than 50 instructors under his supervision.
The uncompromised professionalism he had inherited from Imi and used every
day in the classes he gave attracted thousands of students to practice self
defense. People from the education area-teachers, principals and his officials
from the ministry of education- who saw and felt the effects of the Krav-Maga on
the man and women who practiced it, helped Yaron to bring the Krav-Maga to
dozens of schools in Israel. It was the first time that such a thing was done in
the world.
All this time Imi was accompanying the great advance of Krav-Maga as a
professional and mental father of Yaron and participated in all of the events.
In order to receive an especial license to operate a private school of
Krav-Maga, Yaron learned in the Wingate Institute and received a diploma as a
qualified trainer. He is the first to receive this certification from the
Wingate Institute and the Israeli education Ministry that qualified him to give
diplomas of Krav-Maga instructor.
In addition to his work in the school, Yaron was also called in to the
building of independents Krav-Maga instruction units in the army and in the
different security forces, a project that was carried out successfully.
In the year 1989 the first group of Krav-Maga with a few dozens participants
went of to Holland in order to teach Krav-Maga out of Israel, and the first step
of the Krav-Maga expansion around the world was taken.
Another breakthrough took place when Yaron published his two books of
Krav-Maga, containing all of the originals and authentic movements as they were
passed on and taught by Imi without any professional change (like it is
customary today).
The two books, "The Krav-Maga - profession of self defense" and the latest
"Krav-Maga – strength, the mystery, the truth" open a new door to all of the
Krav-Maga trainees.
Additionally, as part of his work with educational institutes he wrote
academics articles about Krav-Maga that were recognized and accepted by the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
In the year 1994 Yaron received from Imi a diploma indicting that he is a
black belt 9th DAN of Krav-Maga.
In 2008 Yaron published a book in English "The Book of Krav-Maga, The Bible". It describes in details the majority of the techniques until the black belt.
Yaron leads 1-3 times a month intensive courses and exams worldwide. The list of events is available at www.kravmaga-bukan.com/port/events.php
